When people feel pain in any part of their bodies, the two most common pieces of advice are to either put heat or ice packs on the area.

However, depending on the type of pain, heat or cold can actually cause the pain to worsen. How can you tell which temperature will offer the most relief? Here are some tips!

When to use heat packs as treatment:

Heat therapy is great for chronic injuries as well as if you suddenly experience back pain without any inflammation or swelling. Heat is great for sore, stiff muscles and joints as well.

Using heat packs, like the Far Infrared Healing Heat Pad helps by increasing the elasticity of joints and stimulating blood flow. Doing this makes the muscles more relaxed and increases the blood circulation.

As mentioned above, the thing to remember about using the right temperature for back pain relief depends on the kind of pain that you are experiencing.

If it’s swelling and inflammation then ice packs would be the best choice. If it is more of a chronic case that is not accompanied by the swollen parts, then you should probably try heat packs.

Always remember though that ice packs or heat packs are just first aid solutions. If the injury does not improve, or gets worse after a few days, then you should see a doctor.

When to use Cold packs or Ice:

Ice works very well for muscle strains, sprains, or pain due to external physical damage (such as hits or bumps). This is because ice reduces swelling on the affected area.

It also provides minor pain relief by numbing the local tissues, as well as slowing down the neurological impulses that trigger that pain response.

Also know that treatment using cold packs is quite effective if applied within 48 hours after the pain is felt. This is because it is in this time period when the muscles are still very swollen and tight.

A quick note though- you should never apply ice directly on the skin. Doing this for a long time can cause frostbite damage. Always have something to put between the ice and your skin.

One of the ways that people are able to feel some relief from pain is through the application of heat into the affected area. Heat packs are able to do this and many people attest to the fact that the application of heat from such items is truly helpful in giving them pain relief.

The problem with is that heat from heat packs are usually just able to give pain relief for a few days. They do not necessarily fix the problem. All the heat pack does is that it lessens the inflammation but not necessarily treat the source or the reason for it. This is why the pain and stiffness would usually come back after a few hours or days.

Treatment with heat is about to change with the Far Infrared Heating Pad. The Far Infrared Heating pad uses a revolutionary technology that gives you permanent pain relief and restores your mobility by treating the source of your body’s aches.

As the name implies, the Far Infrared Heating Pad uses new infrared technology to provide you with the healing touch that your body needs. As compared with other heating methods, utilizing infrared allows the heat to reach to penetrate the skin to a depth of around 3 inches, this is in contrast to the few millimeters that other heating pads can do. Because it reaches deep in to your body, it is able to quickly target your pain and help in the process of your natural healing.

So let’s see the advantages and disadvantages of the Far Infrared Heating Pad.

What I like about the product:

Quick and long lasting effect:

As compared with other heating pads, the Far Infrared heating pad is definitely better when it comes to heat treatments. This is because more traditional heat therapy methods would usually wear off as soon as you take the heat out. The traditional means would also tend to work slowly, and would need some time before you start feeling the pain relief.

On the other hand, the Far Infrared Heating Pad is able to give you that quick and long lasting effect. Aside from helping your body speed up its natural healing processes, the pad gives you immediate and long lasting relief. Even if you turn off the pad already, you would still be able the soothing heat that the Far Infrared Heating Pad give you.

What they could Improve on:

Heat levels:If you had been quite used to utilizing traditional heating pads, then you may be surprised at the seemingly lack of heat that the Far Infrared heating pad has. This is because for safety reasons, the pad is set to operate at a relatively low 40-45ºC (104-113ºF), instead of the 55ºC (131ºF) that people are used to.

As mentioned, this is done for safety reasons. The lesser temperature means a lower risk of skin blisters, burns or dehydration but it could really have some mental feeling of lack of relief for other users.

Recommendation:

The Far infrared Heating Pad is a great tool for anyone looking for a better alternative to heat treatments. It would be able to provide you with the quick and long lasting relief that you would not be able to find In other heating pads in the market.
