However, people should be aware that even if they do not participate in athletic activities, or even do the tiniest bit of exercise or training, they can still be quite susceptible to neck and back pain.</p>
<p>The fact is, even the way you sit or stand can already have an effect on your body. An improper posture while sitting, lying down, walking or even just standing up, can already lead to additional strain on your neck and back muscles, as well as the nerves. This excess and unnecessary strain can build up over time and give you the aches that you feel on your back and neck.</p>
<p>That is why it is important for you to know if you have a poor posture, and then correct it as soon as possible. Here are some things that you should know about your body’s proper posture:</p>
<p><strong>Leaning your head forward:</strong></p>
<p>Forward head posture is when your head is drifting and leaning forward. People would usually resort to this posture while they are working with a computer, reading a book, driving, or watching television or movies. When people are in this kind of position, they would usually strain the muscles at the back of their necks.</p>
<p>This is why people should eliminate this position as much as possible. They should start reading with their books propped up against a frame, take periodic breaks while working on the computer, or even while they are driving.</p>
<p><strong>Slouching:</strong></p>
<p>While it may seem more comfortable to slouch, it would actually lead to more pain if you continue doing it over time. This is because slouching, whether while standing or sitting down on a chair, actually causes unnecessary strain on the back nerves and muscles, thus causing back pain.</p>

<p><strong>1. Additional Weight:</strong></p>
<p>If you have unhealthy eating habits and are overweight, your bodies frame has to support a heavier mass. The average human frame can only support so much weight- additional weight puts a huge strain on bones and muscles. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Usually, people associate back pain with strenuous physical exercise. They think only people who are very active can suffer from it.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, thats not the case. The truth is that even regular activities such as sitting down, standing, or even walking can contribute to the tightness and pain many of us feel in our backs.</p>
<p>One thing you can do to combat this is to strengthen your back muscles through stretching and exercise. By making your back muscles stronger and more flexible, you can prevent and even eliminate back pain!<img class="alignright" title="yoga" src="http://backandneckpainresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/yoga-300x199.jpg" alt="yoga 300x199 Back Stretching Exercises " width="300" height="199" /></p>
<p>Although most people believe exercise is too time consuming, there are plenty of stretches that are easy to do, and can be done quickly.</p>
<p>Here are some examples of stretches you can do do relieve back pain-</p>
<div><strong>1. Pelvic Tilt:</strong></div>
<p><span lang="EN">To do the pelvic tilt you should lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. After assuming this position you should tighten your buttocks and abdomen, which will flatten the small of your back against the floor. You should hold this position for a count of five, and repeat it five to fifteen times.</span></p>
<div><strong>2. Push-Up Stretch:</strong></div>
<p><strong>The second stretching exercise also works out your back. When done properly, it&#8217;s sure to stregthen your back.</strong>To do this exercise, lie on your stomach and prop yourself up on your elbows while extending your back. While in this position, start straightening your elbows to further extend your back. You should continue straightening your elbows until you feel a gentle stretch on your back muscles. Hold for around 15 seconds and then return to the starting position.</p>
<p>Clearly, these stretches aren&#8217;t difficult to perform and don&#8217;t need any kind of special equipment. Another good thing about these is that they&#8217;re quick to perform, so you&#8217;re not spending your whole day stretching!</p>
<p>By doing these exercises regularly you&#8217;ll have a stronger back, and less pain. Of course, before exercising always ensure that you are properly warmed up and have the approval of your doctor or physical therapist.</p>
<div><span lang="EN">The pelvic tilt is a stretching exercise that can strengthen your lower back muscles as well as your abs.</span></div>
